Elementary Teaching Certification Options
Undergraduate Elementary Education Program Requirements
If you have not yet obtained a bachelor's degree and wish to pursue course work to be recommended for a teaching certificate, you should click on the link for the BS Degree in Education program to review your many options through campus, online or blended course work.
Graduate Elementary Education Program Requirements
Following are the courses required in Drexel's PA state-approved graduate teacher certification programs: PA Instructional I Teacher Certification (the certificate which indicates to a school and/or school district that the candidate is fully certified) and the PA Graduate Intern Certification (for those who wish to begin teaching in PA prior to completing requirements for the PA Instructional I). The state requires that all teachers issued a PA Intern Certificate be enrolled each term in course work to obtain a PA Instructional I Teaching Certificate.
All requirements in RED must be met for the PA Graduate Intern Certificate (GIC). The Sequence of Procedures document outlines the steps needed to be recommended for the PA Instructional I and the Intern Teaching Certificate.
All PA candidates seeking are required to obtain the following Required Clearances in order to participate in classroom observations and student teaching; non-PA candidates may need similar clearances to do so in their state and should contact their Academic Advisor for updated information.
