Jesse Hopkins is regional manager at the Radiator Depot, although he wears many hats for the company. He says his degree has helped immensely, as his company is looking to grow and needs more expertise in the areas that he is studying. This gave him an excellent opportunity to help his workplace advance.
“I have developed mentoring and coaching programs that help the training programs we currently deploy,” Hopkins says.
His favorite aspects about the program were his professors and the class structure. He says his professors were willing to spend time on the phone, discussing how to best apply what he was learning in class to his full-time job. Hopkins also says the class structure offered a great deal of interaction through group projects and online discussion.
“My classmates have been a huge part of my success,” Hopkins says, “as I have learned a lot from each of them.”
Through his courses, Hopkins learned about the HR field itself, as well as business applications for HR. Additionally, he studied adult learning theories and best practices for teaching adults.
An unexpected bonus of the program is that Hopkins has become much more detailed-oriented and purposeful in his projects at work, and has focused more on how to positively impact the bottom line.
When he completes his degree, Hopkins says he will be prepared to fulfill an executive position in human resources, and he looks forward to doing so.
