Alumna Caitlin Block chose the School of Education’s Global & International Education program because Drexel is one of the only colleges that offers an online master’s degree in global education.
Block enjoyed the array subjects that were covered in her GIE courses, which allowed her to gain a new perspective on education, particularly the American system. Hands-on experience also allowed her to see her work in class come to life.
“The co-op is a great opportunity to do research and learn about the research process,” Block says. “I also enjoyed learning about framing in terms of issues and policies.”
She says that the accessibility of her instructors was a big help throughout the program. The variety of assignments, such as working in groups, on papers and presentations, and blogs, was one of her favorite aspects of the program. She also loved the Economics of Education course, which she says was “very useful.”
“The program provided a well-balanced course schedule and most professors were incredibly helpful,” Block says.
Now that she’s earned her GIE degree, Block hopes to work in the educational policy sector.
“I have decided since enrolling in this program that I would love to receive my doctorate and teach at the college level,” Block says.
