Louis Bellardine joined Drexel University as the Vice President of Human Resources on March 24, 2014. With more than 28 years of strategic human resources experience in both higher education and corporate settings, Bellardine brings a diverse and valuable mix of skills and expertise to this vital leadership role at the University.
At Columbia University from 2006 to 2014, Bellardine oversaw significant changes to healthcare, retirement and tuition benefits, introduced succession planning and designed a talent management process to develop high-potential individuals. He directed a staff of more than 90 HR professionals supporting 14,000 faculty and staff and successfully developed strong working relationships with faculty and staff across the entire university, which has two campuses in New York City. .
Prior to joining Columbia, Bellardine spent 22 years at Cigna Corporation and held key human resources generalist and leadership development executive positions in both the United States and Asia. He served in high-level leadership roles at Cigna from 1996 to 2004, including vice president for human resources-Asia Pacific, vice president for group division leadership planning and vice president for corporate leadership planning and development, with responsibility for supporting over 40,000 employees.
Bellardine earned a bachelor’s degree in psycho-biology from Albright College in Reading, Pa., completed the Executive Human Resources Program at Cornell University and is certified as a Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR).
As Vice President of HR, Bellardine serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet.
