Rules and Regulations for Program Initiation, Review, Change, and Termination

(adopted by Board of Trustees of Drexel University, 7 May 1991)

I: Purpose

This document systematizes Drexel faculty participation in decision-making regarding the initiation, evaluation, change, and termination of academic programs. Particular decisions to initiate, terminate, revise or continue programs should be seen as parts of a university-wide, ongoing process of curriculum design. Collective faculty experience, expertise and dedication, faculty concern for academic excellence and vitality, and faculty determination that Drexel's resources be used efficiently, should assure that sound educational decisions are made and that the total curricula are composed or appropriately interrelated parts. Moreover, faculty participation is a consensus-building process in which faculty members support the work of their colleagues in all parts of the University.
