Co-op Credit
In order to graduate, each student must complete the total number of Drexel Co-op Units (DCUs) required for the program or major in which the student is enrolled. The minimum number of DCUs in the various programs ranges from 32-96 (thirty-two to ninety-six).
Reporting DCUs
Drexel Co-op Units (DCU) and the name of the employer are shown on your Official University Transcript along with your academic credits to achieve graduation. DCUs are similar to courses taken for a Credit/No Credit grade. This credit is awarded by your Co-op coordinator after each requirement is completed.
Understanding Your Transcript
The following are examples of what you may see on your transcript as it relates to co-op:
- 200715; COOP 201; CO-OP EXPERIENCE / General Motors 16 DCU - A notation similar to the above indicates that you have received credit, 16 DCUs, for a 6-month work period at General Motors.
- 200725; COOP 301 CO-OP EXPERIENCE / General Motors 16 NF - NF (Not Finalized) means that you worked for the term indicated but you have not met with your coordinator and turned in the required "Employment Summary & Planner." No DCU has been awarded. Submission of the report (found at: www.drexel.edu/SCDC) and a meeting with your co-op coordinator finalizes the placement.
- 200735; COOP 201 CO-OP EXPERIENCE / Failed Work Term 16 NCU - NCU (No Credit Units) means that no Co-op was registered for the time period. A Failed Work Term is given since the SCDC has no record of your Co-op. **Contact your coordinator immediately if your transcript indicates NF or NCU.
