SCDC Policies & Procedures: Co-op Position Acceptance

Positions Obtained Through Optimal Pairing (SCDConline system)

If students have been paired with employers through the Optimal Pairing process, the results are final - students are required to honor than agreement a student must sign a Student Employment Agreement (Blue Form) in order to get credit for your co-op experience. Because the results of Optimal Pairing are final, students must discontinue their independent job search immediately and not accept other positions.

Positions Obtained Through an Independent Job Search

If students have secured a co-op position through an independent job search, they must complete a Student Employment Agreement (Blue Form) no later than the first day of classes of the first term in which they are registered for Co-op. If they secure a co-op position through an independent job search while active in round A or B they must excuse yourself from the student ranking process. See your Co-op coordinator for details.

IMPORTANT: ONCE STUDENTS HAVE BEEN PAIRED OR ACCEPTED AN OFFER FROM AN EMPLOYER, STUDENTS MAY NOT RENEGE ON THAT AGREEMENT OR ACCEPT OTHER OFFERS.

Failure to observe this policy includes consequences such as: co-op probation, removal of co-op credit for that work experience and/or denial of the use of the SCDC's services, including SCDConline. These measures can delay graduation and/or affect your student transcript.

International Students and Position Acceptance

No international students (F-1 and I-1 visas) may begin work at a co-op position until work authorization is complete. Work authorization is processed in person by International Students and Scholars Services (ISSS) for the length of the co-op cycle only. The ISSS is located at 210 Creese Student Center.
