SCDC Policies & Procedures: Co-op Interviews

After employers receive all the résumés of interested students, they make a decision about which candidates they wish to interview. Students go on-line to see which employers selected them and whether the interviews will be held on-campus or off-campus.

Scheduling Interviews

It is important that students access the interview information on the date it is made available and respond within the time limits set by the Steinbright Career Development Center (SCDC). The dates that the information is available are the only days to sign up for on-campus interviews. Failure to sign up for on-campus interviews or to contact employers for off-campus interviews will cause students to be placed "on hold". Students will be unable to proceed further with co-op interviews until that hold is resolved. Students should contact their coordinators to have the holds lifted.

Interview Policy

Students are required to attend all interviews (whether on-campus or off). In the event that students are unable to attend an interview (emergencies such as a traffic accident, a death in the family, etc.) they should notify their coordinator and the employer immediately. Students who do not attend all granted interviews will receive a co-op hold. To resolve a hold for a missed interview, they will be required to write a letter to the employer detailing the reasons for the missed interview and reasons why they should be allowed to continue in the process.

Classes vs. Interviews

Students are not allowed to miss classes for co-op interviews. Schedule interviews accordingly.

Holds

Students with co-op, financial, or health holds may not get ranked by employers or rank any of the jobs for which they were made an offer until the holds are resolved.

Freshmen & SCDConline

If you are a freshman going out for fall/winter in your sophomore year and will be at home for the summer vacation, you can access SCDConline via the web.

If you have any problems accessing the on-line system, contact your coordinator immediately. If you wait until the last minute you may miss an important deadline.
