Inquiry and Investigation Leading the Way to Innovation…
Students looking toward a career in research, preparing for graduate school or who simply want to become more knowledgeable in their field benefit from participating in a research co-op. Students participating in research co-ops experience a growth in their critical thinking and problem solving skills. Research co-op opportunities are available through multiple disciplines, including biological science, information technology, communications, religion, history, engineering and the arts. In addition, students have the option of working in an academic, industry or non-profit setting, depending on their area of interest.
Drexel University and its faculty are committed to innovation and research. Through Drexel's Research Co-op program, cooperative education students gain hands-on research experience while working with a Drexel faculty mentor. Through the Office of the Provost and the Steinbright Career Development Center, Drexel faculty can apply for funding to facilitate research co-op opportunities. This program was created to increase research opportunities for students and to encourage more of our graduates to consider PhD programs.
Students also work in numerous research co-op positions outside of Drexel, for example a student recently worked in Princeton University's Physics Department on the development of a cryogenic test system.
