Career and Educational Counseling: Inventories

MBTI

The narrative report includes interpretation of personality type on four preference scales including introversion/extraversion, sensing/intuition, thinking/feeling, judging/perceiving. Supplemental handouts provided by counselor include: the effect of preferences on work setting, definitions and characteristics/descriptors of four scales, Type in College, Type and Careers, Type in Organizations, Type and Career Coaching.

Strong Interest Inventory

Includes summary and interpretative reports on six occupational themes – Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional. Indicates degree of interest (high to low) on basic interest scales. Compares interests to various occupations on all themes, indicating to students how their interest patterns match individuals in specific professions.

16PF- Personal Career Development Profile

Provides a narrative report including individualized information on following personality items: problem-solving resources, organizational role and work setting preferences, interpersonal interaction styles, patterns for coping with stressful conditions, career activity interests, and personal career lifestyle effectiveness considerations. The Career Activity Interest section compares student scores with individuals in various occupations to provide feedback and comparative information on general occupational themes, career field interests and specific occupations.

Learning and Study Strategies Inventory

Designed to gather information about learning and study practices and attitudes. Provides feedback on time management, attitude toward college and education, motivation, anxiety, information processing, concentration, and work habits/study efficiency.
