Request for Release from Housing Agreement

Each organization is required to maintain a yearly occupancy requirement with the University. As such, the organizations maintain the ability to approve or deny requests by students to be released from their Individual Housing Agreement.

The occupancy period runs from Summer to Spring. Because the organizations have an occupancy requirement, they have discretion in releasing students from their Individual Housing Contracts. The house leadership (defined as Chapter President, House Manager, and Chapter Advisor) are contacted when a student requests to be released.

The Chapter President serves as the sole liaison to University Housing in Requests for Release situations.

If a student approaches you about requesting a releasing

• Respectfully find out why the student is requesting to be released
• Inform your house leadership (House Manager, Chapter President, Chapter Advisor)
• Have the student submit a "Request to be released from housing" form to University Housing
• Chapter president informs University Housing of the organization's decision to release by sending an email to housing@drexel.edu
• A confirmation of release email will be sent to the House Leadership and the student
• Work with your House Director to facilitate the Move-Out process, if appropriate

If a student requests to be released from their Individual Housing Agreement via University Housing:

• UH will notify house leadership via email of the request
• Chapter President, House Manager, and Chapter Advisor discuss situation and determine a response
• Within 72-hours, Chapter President informs University Housing via email with their decision to release
• UH will contact student with the decision and determine final billing
• A confirmation of release email will be sent to the House Leadership and the student
