Searle Scholars Program
Drexel University seeks internal applicants for the Searle Scholars Program. The University may submit only one application for this competition.
The Searle Scholars Program makes grants to support the independent research of outstanding young scientists who have been appointed assistant professors with tenure-track positions on or after July 1, 2013. Grants are $300,000 for a three-year term with $100,000 payable each year.
Applicants must be pursuing independent research careers in biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, immunology, neuroscience, pharmacology, and related areas in chemistry, medicine, and the biological sciences.
Internal applications due no later than 11:59 pm, August 8, 2014. Full applications due to the Foundation by September 26, 2014.

For our internal competition we require the following:
- A two-page (max) research plan, exclusive of cover or references. No supplementary material is allowed. (Note that the actual application research plan is only about twice this size.)
- A CV from the candidate, highlighting the five publications to be referenced in the application.
- A page with the names of three external references. The actual letters are not needed at this time.
- A brief nominating letter from the Department Head or Dean stating the particular strengths of the candidate.
All of the above must be combined in a single pdf, with the file name containing the candidate’s name, sent to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 11:59 pm, Friday, August 8th. The email subject line should read SEARLE SCHOLARS. Full applications are due by September 26, 2014.
