Export Controls

Export Control Regulations are a comprehensive series of regulations enforced by the federal government. The regulations govern how certain information, technologies and commodities can be transmitted to anyone outside the US or to a foreign national on US soil. Even though the vast majority of teaching and research activities are excluded from the Export Control Regulations, it is imperative that research faculty and staff understand how and when these regulations may apply to their activities (including international travel), when certain compliance obligations are in effect and to what extent the Office of Research Administration can provide assistance when needed.

This workshop will identify potential research and travel issues, explain the fundamental research exclusion and provide guidance to assist university personnel to comply with stated export control regulations.
