Health Information Privacy and Security - HIPS
The CITI Program's Health Information Privacy & Security (HIPS) courses provide each learner with a deep understanding of the principles of health data protection, focusing on the privacy and information security requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Augmented penalties, audits, and required breach notifications under the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act's amendments to HIPAA have raised the stakes for organization's compliance with HIPAA.
Investigators and research personnel planning on accessing and using Protected Health Information (PHI) in conjunction with their research protocol design must complete the HIPS and Drexel Core Modules HIPAA I & II training.
Registration for HIPS training may be completed during your initial registration with the CITI program. Personnel already registered with CITI who need to add HIPS training to their profile may do so by modifying your current profile within the CITI program on your CITI home page. Registration directions for HIPS and Drexel Core Modules may be found at the links below.
