Conflict of Interest
Drexel University encourages and allows University Personnel to engage in outside activities and relationships to further the University’s mission to disseminate knowledge through research. Because Drexel occupies a position of trust in the community, it has obligations to external organizations, the government, donors, parents, and students to use resources responsibly.
Drexel expects University Personnel to uphold the highest standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity. Thus, when Drexel accepts and enters into sponsored projects in which University Personnel, their spouse, and/or dependent children have an interest that creates, or has the potential to create, a conflict of interest, it exercises due care to determine whether the objectivity in the sponsored project can or will be compromised. Should a conflict be reasonably expected to 1) have a direct and significant impact on the design, conduct, or reporting of the sponsored project or 2) undermine University Personnel’s obligation to Drexel, the sponsor, research subjects, or students, Drexel will take the necessary measures to evaluate whether the conflict can be satisfactorily managed with appropriate administrative oversight.
Drexel is committed to ensuring University Personnel’s compliance with all laws and regulations. University Personnel are kept abreast of current conflict of interest policies and procedures through various forms of media.
