Over the last decade, Drexel's knowledge enterprise has grown dramatically, fueled by the addition of several new colleges and schools and a number of researchers and scholars of international repute. These enhancements have expanded the fields and sectors in which the University makes increasingly meaningful contributions, enhancing Drexel's reputation as a knowledge-intensive institution.
Drexel faculty, students and staff in all of its colleges and schools are deeply engaged in the generation of new knowledge and creative and scholarly works. Our knowledge enterprise includes projects and activities supported by international, national, and regional for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, both public and private, as well as by the generosity and support of our donors and alumni. Drexel's knowledge community practices theoretical, experimental, computational, and clinical research and development that advances the frontiers, and produces a rich mix of creative and scholarly works.
Translational Research
We make great efforts to translate our knowledge into practice, employing a coherent set of strategies that include support for social and for-profit entrepreneurship, high-impact civic engagement and effective technology commercialization. In our translational activities, we leverage three great Drexel strengths:
- our tradition of promoting experiential learning through co-op activities made available to all students;
- our enduring commitment to meaningful civic engagement; and
- our deep-rooted partnerships with local and regional organizations.
As we continue to enrich our knowledge enterprise, we are expanding our reach globally, with partnerships in Asia, Australia, Central America, Europe, and the Middle East.
Drexel's knowledge enterprise supports both fundamental and translational research, and creative expression. In our translational endeavors, Drexel researchers and scholars - faculty, staff and students alike - explore innovative approaches to solve or address pressing societal problems, applying new knowledge and contributing to economic growth and national prosperity through the development of innovative products and services.
Diverse Research
Drexel's knowledge community of researchers and scholars are socially, professionally and intellectually diverse. Many of Drexel's faculty and staff are seasoned practitioners with strong academic and private sector experiences. Drexel's intellectual climate is creative, flexible and responsive to change, thereby facilitating the emergence of innovative new lines of inquiry and exploration and seeding new avenues of creative expression. Our knowledge community is vibrant and diverse, and our knowledge enterprise benefits from the deep integration of fellows and trainees, graduate and undergraduate students, in all programs, projects and activities.
