Chris Rodolico is one of our eight personal trainers at the Recreation Center. Get to know Chris:

Hometown: Philadelphia, PA
Education: Currently enrolled in accelerated B.S./D.P.T. (Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and Doctorate of Physical Therapy) program at Drexel University
Certifications: American Council of Exercise- Certified Personal Trainer (ACE-CPT)

Winter Break Class Schedule
Rec Center Facility Hours, December 11, 2011 - January 8, 2012
Mondays @ 12pm

DragonFit Circuit

A fun and exciting way to exercise! Circuit training involves a mixture of cardiovascular endurance training with muscular endurance/strength activities. Participants will be introduced to several different circuits & exercises using various pieces of equipment in the Recreation Center. Sign up at the Welcome Center. DragonFit Boot Camp

Everything goes in this class! This is similar to circuit training, but in a less structured fasion. Participants will be introduced to several new and exciting exercises. DragonFit Challenge

This program is certainly for all participants, but especially appeals to those that enjoy a good challenge. Challenges will be tailored to each individual's ability level as determined by past exercise history and the instructor's assessment. Challenges can exist of several exercises or one common exercise that must be completed within the allotted time. Sign up at the Welcome Center. For more details, e-mail fitness@drexel.edu.

Fit Fridays

Facility Hours

REC CENTER UPDATE:
The Rec Center basketball courts will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 1st starting at 2pm until the end of the day Wednesday, Nov. 2nd for the President's Awards. The Armory & DAC Courts will be available during this time.

POOL UPDATE:
*Pool closed from 6:30-8:30am on 11/4/11 for pool maintenance

*Pool closed from 12:00-4:00pm on 11/5/11 for a varsity swim meet

On Fridays in November and December, the Drexel Recreation Center will be hosting Fit Fridays in "Philadelphia's Next Great Public Space," the 30th Street Station Plaza. Go to the University City website for additional details.

City 6 5K/Turkey Trot Saturday November 5, 9am. Put on your sneakers to run/walk in the 11th annual turkey trot Meet at the Recreation Center Pre-registration encouraged.
Spin for a Cure

Spin for a Cure Recap

The 2nd Annual Susan G. Komen Spin for a Cure was held on Saturday, Oct. 22nd and raised $1,014! Participants signed up to spin for 1 to 5 hours and various prizes were raffled off from local businesses. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Susan G. Komen affiliate of Philadelphia. A thank you to the Drexel Squash teams as well for signing up!

Fitness Assessments

Receive a Free Fitness Assessment

As a valued member of the Recreation Center, you can sign up to receive a free fitness assessment. Fitness assessments help determine physical fitness and assess the five components of physical fitness: body composition, cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength, & flexibility. Zumba Party - 10.20.11

Experience Zumba! In celebration of Latino Heritage Month, the Panhellenic Council & Office of Multicultural Programs are offering a Zumba Party on Thursday, Oct. 20th at 6:00pm on the Recreation Center basketball courts. For more details, e-mail Jessica Norman.

Weightlifting Workshop - 10.19.11

Learn new secrets & techniques that will help you maximize your weightlifting gains & reach your goals. The workshop will focus on how to develop a weightlifting program as well as provide demos on how to perform the most popular exercises. For more details, e-mail Nick Drake.

Nutrition Workshop - 10.20.11

On Thursday, Oct. 20th, the Center for Integrated Nutrition & Performance will be offering a workshop on Nutrition for Exercise & Sports. Learn how to get the most out of your workout by eating right pre and post-workout. The workshop will be offered at 12pm, 5:30pm, & 7pm. For more details, e-mail Jessica Norman.

American Council on Exercise

Become a Group Exercise Instructor

Sign up for our Group Exercise Instructor Training Course to familiarize yourself with the fundamentals of group exercise instruction and to prepare for the American Council on Exercise Group Fitness Instructor Exam. Sign up now at the Recreation Center or e-mail Jessica Norman for more details!

Nutrition Workshop

The Savvy Shopper

This workshop will focus on healthy campus options as well as how to shop for healthy foods on a budget. It will be offered 3 times on Thursday, October 6th at 12pm, 5:30pm, and 7pm in the Recreation Center Gallery. For more details, e-mail Jessica Norman.

The Club (500lb. and 1000lb.)

Join The Club

Think you can join The Club? We'll recognize any male who achieves 1000lbs or greater in the bench press, squat, and deadlift and any female who achieves 500lbs or greater. For more details, visit the 3rd floor "Club" bulletin board or e-mail Nick Drake.
