Events

Recreational Athletics plays a proactive role in the planning and management of some of Drexel University’s most popular and exciting campus events. Each year, Recreational Athletics hosts a variety of dynamic and interactive events that educate the Drexel community about recreational program offerings and facilities.

Annual Spring Health and Wellness Fair

Offered to the Drexel Community each spring. The event is held at the Drexel Recreation Center and includes: free health screenings, fitness demos, and healthy food options.

Rec Fests – Welcome Back Weeks

Recreational Athletics Festivals allow students to discover the many recreational opportunities and programs offered through Recreational Athletics. Students can meet Club Sports officers, register for Intramural Sports, and discover fitness, health and wellness opportunities, including the Aquatics Program and the Climbing and Experiential Learning Program. A variety of interactive games, food, music, and giveaways are available on-site. This event is co-sponsored by the Office of Campus Activities.

Intramural Championships

Teams from league sports compete for intramural glory and are elected into the Intramural Wall of Recognition at this championship event. Teams will receive the coveted intramural championship t-shirt and championship plaques. Special Drexel guests invited to do ceremonial coin toss.

Intramural All-Star Extravaganzas

All-Star Extravaganzas allow students to compete in an all-star game post league. Flag Football, Floor Hockey, Basketball and Soccer all-star games are offered each year. Unique contests, challenges, food, refreshments, giveaways and player awards are also apart of each extravaganza. All all-stars are elected by a group of peers during the season by ballot based on sportsmanship and leadership.

Turkey Trot 5K & Fall Festival

The Annual Turkey Trot and Fall Festival is a fun, engaging event for participants to compete in a 5k run or walk on Drexel’s campus! Participants also enjoy healthy activities, games, and group exercise demonstrations! Healthy foods, music, giveaways and unique race awards are also included! Each runner receives a Turkey Trot T-Shirt and all proceeds from this event benefit the American Cancer Society and Coaches vs. Cancer. To register, please contact the Intramural Sports Office.

Student Employee Events

Recreational Athletics student employees enjoy events that build morale and create a sense of community, including:

Freshmen and New Staff Picnics: Teambuilding, social interaction, and fun games for all new student employees in Recreational Athletics.
Senior Barbeques & Send Offs An opportunity to thank all seniors’ student employees that have experienced the Recreational Athletics Program – BBQ and fun games on-site!
RECreation RECognition: An end of year Celebration! An annual celebration for Recreational Athletics. Student attendees include: club teams and leaders, Intramural teams and captains, CITY 6 representatives, recreational student staff, health and wellness team/staff and more! The highlighted award is the “Spirit of the Dragon,” which celebrates achievement and Drexel Spirit. It is awarded to students nominated by their peers.
