Emergency Telephones

An emergency telephone

Emergency telephones are strategically placed throughout the campus. These phones automatically contact the Department of Public Safety Communications Center (DPSCC) and indicate the caller's exact location. Many of the emergency telephones are illuminated by blue lights making them highly visible.

To use an emergency telephone:

  • Press the red button to call for help
  • Wait for dispatch to acknowledge your call
  • Speak clearly and calmly
  • Explain the problem in as much detail as possible
  • Follow the dispatcher’s instructions

When an emergency telephone is activated, Drexel Public Safety personnel are immediately dispatched to the location and the nearest CCTV camera automatically monitors the situation. When in fear of immediate danger or you suspect that you are being followed, activate the nearest emergency telephone and, if necessary, keep moving – activating additional emergency telephones as you proceed. Dispatchers will constantly update responding personnel.

Locations

Emergency telephones are located on the University City Main Campus, Center City Hahnemann Campus, and the Queen Lane Medical Campus. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to learn the locations of emergency telephones and to use them for all emergency and non-emergency communications.

The system is tested and serviced regularly; please report emergency telephone problems to the DPSCC at 215-895-2822.
