Complaints and Commendation
Confidence in the integrity of the Drexel University Police Department and its employees is achieved and maintained with a meaningful and effective procedure for handling citizen complaints. The department is dedicated to:
- Improving the quality of our services
- Promoting community confidence in our officers and staff
- Adhering to the highest standards of professional integrity
We promote these standards through clear, written policies, rules, and regulations and thorough, impartial investigation of all allegations of misconduct or complaints regarding the performance of the officers assigned to the Drexel University Police Department.
The formal procedure to receive, document, and investigate citizen complaints allows the department to monitor and enforce standards. Behavior deviating from these adopted standards will not be tolerated.
It is the policy of the department to accept, document, review, and investigate all instances of alleged misconduct, include complaints regarding the policies and procedures of the department, and equitably determine whether the allegations are valid or invalid, thereby taking appropriate corrective action. All allegations of misconduct will be investigated whether initiated by citizen complaint, external agencies, or discovered through the internal review processes of the department.
Anonymous complaints are accepted for investigation; however, citizens are advised that the ability to investigate the complaint may be limited by their anonymity.
