Application Instructions

We will open our application portal on September 1st.

Our deadline for completed applications is December 1st. Please make sure that you have submitted all required materials before the deadline. Below is a checklist to help guide you through the application process. Please note that the instructions on the psychology department webpages and from psychology department emails supersede those on the general university website and from general university emails.  For example, you should not follow instructions to submit a vita, a personal statement or a letter of recommendation using the general university application process.    The following instructions are the ones you should use to apply to our program.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my GRE results will not arrive until after the application deadline?

We review applications in the months of December and January, and late GRE scores may or may not be considered. Once official scores have been submitted to Graduate Admissions, notify us by emailing your new scores to

I completed a master’s program in psychology. Will my credits transfer?

Once admitted, we consider each course request individually by forwarding the syllabus to the relevant instructors, who determine whether the courses you have taken cover equivalent material with a comparable level of rigor. Most students with a master’s degree take 4-5 years to complete our PhD program.

My recommenders have asked for the letter of recommendation materials in advance, but I am not quite ready to complete the Drexel Psychology Letters of Recommendation Form. Is there are way to have recommendation materials sent to my references before I complete the Form?

Unfortunately, the recommendation form cannot be sent to the recommenders until you have completed the Drexel Psychology Letters of Recommendation Form on the Psychology Department website. However, we have set the letter of recommendation deadline for 12/8 (instead of 12/1, which is when the rest of the application is due) to allow recommenders a bit more time. You may also offer them the guidance that we find letters most helpful if they address applicants' strengths and weaknesses as a researcher, scholar and scientist.

Do I need to send a hard copy of my resume/CV and personal statement to the Office of Graduate Admissions?

No, it is not necessary to send an additional copy of these materials to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
