TIPS FROM PAST CO-OPS

NYC

-“I worked in NYC and lived with two other Drexel students in Hoboken, NJ. Most people don't consider living in New Jersey but Hoboken is cheaper than living in the city and it only takes 11 minutes on the train (less than it would be if you lived in Brooklyn) and 20 minutes on the bus to the Port Authority, which is right in the garment district.”

-“look into university housing such as NYU or Columbia”

-“ It’s possible to find cheap living as I did..use the village voice ads. Get it on Wed and call immediately to go look and if it is good and the right price, take it! don't shop cause it will be gone.”

E. Hartford, CT

-“I rented a room in a house that had between 5-7 other renters all of whom are students or young professionals. To live here you need to be open to diversity. Landlord: John Rzasa; Phone 860-225-1913”

-"They will strongly suggest The Pavilions in Manchester, CT. Manchester is a good place to live, but the Pavilions especially are very expensive. I recommend using the P & W UTC online system to find a roommate."

Indianapolis, IN

"There are many, many apartment complexes out here. The personal choice is up to you, but the cost of living is NOT high. I recommend living around the 10th Street/21st Street area right off of I-465. The commute is easy, you are close to work, and it is not a bad neighborhood. Some apartments to look at are West Lake Apartments and Darby Court Apartments."
