STAR Scholars Summer Showcase

Congratulations to the 2012 STAR Scholars cohort for an extremely successful year! The extraordinary caliber of research conducted by 137 STAR Scholars over the course of the 2012 Summer Term was on full display at the STAR Scholars Summer Showcase (Wednesday, August 29, 2012). Also honored at the Summer Showcase were the STAR Faculty Mentors, who went above and beyond in their duties as mentors. Many of the STAR Scholars nominated their faculty mentors for the Outstanding Mentor of the Year Award; throughout these nominations, the Mentors were uniformly recognized as having the following qualities:

  • Are passionate experts in their field who freely share their expertise with students
  • Care deeply about their students and treat them with respect
  • Create comfortable but challenging work environments that facilitate open discussion
  • Generously foster students’ intellectual and professional development
  • Actively engage students in learning and celebrate their success
