With
the approval of his/her academic department offering the course, an undergraduate
student may apply for credit by examination, subject to certain eligibility
requirements. Since credit by examination is based on prior study or obtaining
knowledge, students are not permitted to sit in classes.
The eligibility requirements are as follows:
- The student
must not be on academic probation.
- The privilege
of taking an examination in a particular course is limited one time.
- Students
on co-op are eligible to apply for credit by examination. Approval will
be granted if the exam does not interfere with the student's co-op experience.
- The
examination must be taken within 30 days
of the approval of the student's department head.
- Application
must be initiated in the student's academic department. The completed
application form must be submitted to the Student Resource Center.
- The charge
for Credit by Examination is the current year's Special Examination
Fee and is payable in the Office of the Comptroller prior to the examination
date. The fee is nonrefundable.
How Credit by Examination affects the student's record:
- The grade
earned in the examination is included in calculating the student's cumulative
grade point average.
- Credits
earned by this examination count towards graduation requirements.
