Before the commence of fall quarter during each academic year, the Graduate Studies Office holds an orientation for new Teaching Assistants from across campus. While teaching assistant duties vary across departments, they all demand considerable skill and knowledge.
The TA orientation consists of workshops led by experienced professors and teaching assistants. It is designed to prepare incoming teaching assistants for their new roles at Drexel University and to provide new teaching assistants with the practical skills they will need and to familiarize them with University policies and resources. These duties can include grading, consulting with students during office hours, facilitating discussion, teaching labs, or giving lectures. All new teaching assistants are required to take part in the orientation.
To assist new TAs as they prepare for their duties, the Office of Graduate Studies offers a Teaching Assistant Orientation the week before classes begin. Once these teaching assistants are identified for the academic year, they will be registered for EDUC 775 by personnel in the Office of Graduate Studies.
