Accelerated Degree Program

Accelerated degree programs enable academically qualified students to earn both a bachelor's and an advanced degree — graduating sooner than they would in traditional programs. Depending on the academic program, eligible students can be admitted to an accelerated degree program PROVISIONALLY/CONDITONALLY in one of two ways:

  • Freshman admission
  • Current Drexel students through your college/department

A student must apply to be OFFICIALLY confirmed as an Accelerated Degree Program student when they have attained 90 earned credit hours and have no more than 120 registered credit hours. All applicants must have a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA* and must maintain this minimum GPA throughout the program (*some departmental standards may be higher and students are required to follow the guidelines as set forth by their respective programs). It is the student's responsibility to secure all the necessary signatures within 30 days of initiation of the application process. The completed process date on the form is the date on which the application is approved by the Graduate Studies Office.

The following documents are required with the completed accelerated degree program application:

(1) Plan of study;
(2) Change of cycle form from Steinbright Career Development Center (if applicable);
(3) Billing rate sheet (if applicable); and
(4) Required signatures from various offices and departments.

Once a student is officially enrolled in an accelerated degree program, the Office of Graduate Studies monitors students' performance and academic progress by running a quarterly audit report.

If you are currently enrolled in a 4+1 (4COP Accelerated Program) degree program, students are required to fill out the Accelerated Degree Level Conversion Form. This form is used for two purposes: (1) conversion in status from undergraduate level to graduate level at the time stipulated in the program or in the case of students who are enrolled in the accelerated degree program and unable to complete the program, (2) reversion in status back to the appropriate undergraduate program. Please note that conversion to graduate status occurs once SPRING GRADES are posted.

After obtaining all the required signatures, please direct the form to Taz Kwok, the Assistant Director for Graduate Studies Office, Randell 240.
