The following section contains a list of questions, frequently asked by students and parents regarding Dragon Summer, and their corresponding answers. We will add to this list as additional questions emerge. Should you have additional questions, contact dlc@drexel.edu.
- How are students selected for participation in Dragon Summer? There are two ways to become a Dragon Summer participant: through admission or invitation. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to offer this program to all incoming students. Instead, we target those students who we think would benefit most from the program's offerings, based on a variety of factors.
- Is Dragon Summer a remedial program? The program will help you develop and refine both academic and professional skill sets necessary for college and beyond. We do not consider this remediation.
- How long has Drexel had a Dragon Summer? Dragon Summer is the official summer program of Drexel University. It has been at Drexel in a variety of forms for well over ten years.
- Do I still need to take writing this summer if I did well in the subject during high school? The writing course is designed for students at all levels. All participants will be enrolled in the writing component regardless of high school performance.
- Do I still need to take mathematics this summer if I did well in the subject during high school? Yes. Our data show that success in first-quarter mathematics is critical to student persistence beyond the first year of academic study. If mathematics is a strength, we encourage you to think of the course as a well-deserved refresher and to focus on developing other critical skills by assisting those of your peers who may find mathematics more challenging.
- Can I stay and/or store my belongings on campus after the summer program has ended? Unfortunately, such arrangements are not possible at this time.
