Learning Across the Institution: Drexel Student Learning Priorities

Craig Bach, Associate Vice Provost for Curriculum and Assessment
Barbara Hornum, Director, Drexel Center for Academic Excellence and
Associate Professor of Anthropology, College of Arts & Sciences

Session Overview

Drexel University used a collaborative process to develop a set of institution-level learning goals. Who developed them? Why were they developed? How might they relate to learning in my program or in the courses I teach?

In this hands-on plenary session we explored these questions and ways these goals can help us better understand and communicate student learning within and across courses, programs, colleges, and schools.

Session Outcomes

  • Identify the 11 Drexel institution-level learning goals
  • Discuss how institutional, programmatic, and course-level learning are related
  • Discuss the role of the faculty in supporting learning at all three levels
  • Discuss the role of the syllabus in supporting student learning
