Provost Office: News Release

Three doctoral programs at Drexel University are among the most productive graduate schools in the country.

Three doctoral programs at Drexel University are among the most productive graduate schools in the country, according to Academic Analytics, which just released its third annual Faculty Scholarly Productivity Index, a ranking of graduate programs at research universities based on what the company calls “the first objective measurement of scholarly accomplishment.”

Three programs at Drexel University rank among the “top ten” in their fields.

  • The graduate program in mechanical engineering in the College of Engineering is ranked fourth in the nation among engineering mechanics programs.

  • The graduate program in information studies in the iSchool at Drexel (College of Information Science and Technology) is ranked eighth in information science/studies.

  • The graduate program in clinical psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Drexel is ranked seventh in its field.

A private company owned in part by the State University of New York at Stony Brook, Academic Analytics uses an algorithm that takes into account the number of professors in a program, the number of books and journal articles they have written, the number of times other scholars have cited them, and the awards, honors and grant dollars they have received, to calculate a single ranking. The complete Faculty Scholarly Productivity Index is available online at www.academicanalytics.com/overview.html.
