Provost Office: Memorandum
To: All Faculty
From: Dr. N. John Dinardo, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs
Subject: Fall Census 2006
Date: 28 September 2006
In order to improve our ability to plan and budget for the future, our official Fall census date is being moved from the sixth week to the third week of the quarter. I am writing to request your assistance in obtaining enrollment data in order to make the census as accurate as possible.
Assessing enrollment during week two will enable us to accurately report enrollment figures by the end of week three.
Therefore, I ask that all course instructors of courses on the quarter system record attendance once for each of your course(s) that meet(s) during the second week of the quarter (that is, next week), preferably in classes held later in the week. Attendance will only be recorded for gradable sections. For large courses with recitation and/or laboratory sections, attendance may be taken and recorded in those smaller sections rather than in the large lecture section(s) by the respective instructors and forwarded to the course director for input into Banner.
Attendance is to be recorded in the "Final Grades" screen in BannerWeb according to the instructions provided along with a "Final Grades"
screenshot which is available at
http://www.drexel.edu/provost/census/taking_attendance.asp. Note that attendance is reflected by a "1" for students that are present and a "0" for students that are absent.
If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact me at dinardo@drexel.edu. I appreciate your efforts as we continue to work together.
