Drexel University's Founder's Day and Convocation is scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2009. Convocation communally celebrates the beginning of the academic year. The day begins with all faculty invited to breakfast together with Provost Mark Greenberg in Behrakis Grand Hall, starting at 8:00 AM. The Convocation ceremony is scheduled for 11:00 AM in the auditorium of the Main Building at 3141 Chestnut Street. Dr. John Lombardi, President of the Louisiana State University System, will be the keynote speaker. All faculty and students are strongly urged to attend Convocation.

The morning of Convocation a live webcast of the event will be available. Please check the convocation website at http://www.drexel.edu/convocation for updates.

Regalia

Regalia can be picked up in Behrakis Grand Hall on Friday morning, October 2nd, between 8:30 and 10:00 AM. Regalia must be returned to the same location after the event.

Procession

Faculty will line up in the "Quad" and process to the Auditorium. College Banners will be placed in the Quad so that faculty may line up with their individual college/schools. If there is inclement weather, faculty will line up in Behrakis and walk across Chestnut Street to the Main Building.

Classes

Classes will be cancelled from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on the Main Campus only to allow members of the Drexel community to attend this important function. Students in the Health Sciences and School of Public Health must check with their Program Directors for class schedules on that day.

Please mark your calendars. Plan to join the University as we celebrate the beginning of a new year. There will be more details forthcoming. If you have any questions, please call the Office of the Provost at 215-895-2200.
