Constitution Day - Join in the Online Constitutional Convention

To commemorate Constitution Day on September 17, 2009, all members of the University community are invited to participate in an Online Constitutional Convention. University community members can interact with one another to both celebrate and challenge the Constitution as it currently exists by submitting amendments to its text for what will culminate in a vote on proposed changes.

All members of the University will have access to an online course that can be accessed through http://www.drexel.edu/provost/constitution. The course materials include the text of the Constitution, readings and commentary, and opportunities to propose and discuss ideas for change. The site will grow and develop over the coming weeks, and we invite you to visit often to contribute to the debates that emerge.

We hope that these online discussions will encourage community members to think about and participate in this country's ongoing experiment in democratic self-government. We invite students, staff, and faculty to think creatively and critically about how envisioning the Constitution differently might help us become a country that continues to reflect our best hopes and aspirations.

We would like to acknowledge Professors Richardson Dilworth, Rose Corrigan and David Cohen for their work in developing Drexel's Online Constitutional Convention as well as the members of IRT's Online Learning Team for implementing this exciting activity.
