Subject: Interim Dean Appointed for Pennoni Honors College

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. D.B. Jones, Professor of Film, as Interim Dean of Pennoni Honors College effective July 1, 2008.
Dr. Jones joined Drexel in 1978 after teaching stints at Stanford University and La Trobe University of Australia. He has a bachelor's degree in world literature from Kansas University and a doctoral degree in communication research from Stanford. He has served as a department head three times, once in the College of Arts and Sciences and twice in the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design. As a department head, Dr. Jones spearheaded the creation of one graduate and eight undergraduate academic programs. He has contributed to the Honors College as a frequent teacher, advisory committee member and advisor or committee chair on various Honors College initiatives, including chairing the group that designed the Great Works Symposia. He was named a Distinguished Professor in 2000.
Dr. Jones has authored two books and three book chapters on documentary film and written numerous articles, essays and reviews on film and literary subjects. He has writing, directing and/or producing credits with such organizations as the National Film Board of Canada, Film Australia, WNET-TV (PBS–New York), CBS–TV, Corporation for Public Broadcasting and Dutch National Television. Several of his films have won national or international awards.
Dave Jones' abundant intellect, imagination and experience will serve the Honors College well. Please join with me in wishing Dr. Jones great success in leading the Pennoni Honors College as its Interim Dean.
