Provost Office: Memorandum
To: All Drexel University Tenured Faculty
From: N. John DiNardo, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs
Subject: Sabbatical Leave for Academic Year 2009-2010
Date: 9 June 2008
The Office of the Provost is accepting applications for Sabbatical leave for the 2009-10 academic year. Please refer to the Sabbatical Leave Plan on the Office of the Provost website at http://www.drexel.edu/provost/policies/sabbatical_leave_policy.asp.
A written proposal is to be submitted electronically in a single PDF file to your Department Head by October 31, 2008. The proposal will then be forwarded to the respective Dean and sent to the Office of the Provost for conveyance to the Sabbatical Leave Committee by December 1, 2008. Each office will provide its recommendation as the proposal is forwarded through the process.
You will find a "Form Cover Page" on the Office of the Provost website.
Applicants should complete the form and attach it to the front of the full proposal in place of the first page described in the procedure.
A successful proposal should include the following:
* Description of activities with the potential for joint benefit to both the faculty member and the University
* Defined projects that could not otherwise be carried out during a normal teaching year
* Clearly stated, specific research or creative goals
* A significant offsite component involving hosted affiliations or invitations for visits with written documentation of potential cooperative arrangements with the host
A non-binding brief statement of intention to apply for faculty leave assists us in managing the program. Therefore, please e-mail a brief statement of intent to me (dinardo@drexel.edu) by October 15, 2008, copying your Dean and Department Head.
