Drexel University is one of nine institutions that comprise the consortium called the Greater Philadelphia Region Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP).
The Alliance for Minority Participation (AMP) is part of a national effort to increase the number of students who successfully complete baccalaureate and advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. Funding for AMP is provided by the National Science Foundation.
The Alliance for Minority Participation at Drexel University partners with student groups, community-based organizations as well as University departments to:
- Provide exposure through programming for high-school students to engage them in STEM fields
- Promote academic excellence for undergraduates
- Link students to scholarship and other funding opportunities
- Identify professional development opportunities/internships (both research and non-research)
- Encourage students to pursue advanced degrees
