Near Peers host various educational and social events throughout the year. For perspective, we have included a list of events hosted in the 2012-13 academic year.
- Course Registration Workshop
This workshop was held in mid-November to assist the freshmen with course registration and answer any registration questions during the freshmen time ticket.
- Change of Major Workshop
At the end of the fall term Near Peers worked with freshmen to better understand the change in major process and refer them to the appropriate office to complete the required paperwork.
- Study Jam
During the final week of classes each quarter, students were invited to attend Study Jam where they could work in groups or seek assistance from peer tutors and graduate students.
- Intercultural Communications and Leadership Series
The intercultural workshops allowed students to learn about different cultures through engaging and interactive exercises including the use of commercials and speed dating to better understand cultural similarities and difference.
In addition to the events and workshops listed above, a few new additions for the 2013-2014 academic year include:
- Meet ‘n’ Greet
This event will be held in the beginning of Fall 2013. Freshmen can meet their assigned Near Peer or learn more about the program, and sign up for a mentor if they have not yet been paired.
- Study Groups
Small study groups will be coordinated for requested courses.
