University Procurement Announces New
Office Furniture Standards Purchasing Program

University Procurement reviewed office furniture purchases for Drexel University and Drexel University College of Medicine to identify our most preferred furniture lines and distributors. Representatives from the preferred furniture manufacturers and the preferred distributors met with University Procurement buyers and Planning, Design and Construction staff to develop University office furniture standards for systems furniture, case goods, and seating. These standards also included furniture for clinical practices.

As part of the furniture standards process “Good”, “Better”, and “Best” levels were established for each furniture category. The standards offer the University a wide variety of furniture styles and choices. These standards simplify the process for purchasing office furniture. Other benefits of the furniture standards program include higher product quality, price discounts, design services at no charge, warranties, and University approved installation.

All members of the Drexel University and Drexel University College of Medicine community are strongly encouraged to visit the University Procurement webpage and to contact Charlene Rice, Procurement, charlene.rice@drexel.edu 215-895-2921 before making any office furniture purchases. In addition to the list of preferred vendors on the University Procurement Webpage, binders showcasing all our furniture lines divided into pricing categories and styles are available for review in the University Procurement Office located at 3201 Arch Street suite 340.

The staff from Planning, Design, and Construction is also available to assist in the review and selection of furniture. Requisitions for office furniture outside the office furniture standards must be justified and approved by University Procurement.

Central AirPark- Airport Parking

Airport Parking:
Drexel University has negotiated a REDUCED rate of $6.50 per day at Central AirPark for all faculty, staff, and students when traveling from the Philadelphia International Airport. Central AirPark is Philadelphia’s newest off-airport parking facility located at 7601 Essington Avenue with a continuous shuttle service offered 24/7 (less than 10 minutes to and from airport).

Here’s How It Works:

1. Upon entering the facility simply pull a ticket from the entrance gate and park your vehicle.
2. Let the Central AirPark shuttle bus pick you up at your car and enjoy the quick ride to the airport.
3. Upon returning from your travel the Central AirPark shuttle bus will pick you up at Baggage Claim and bring you back to your vehicle.
4. Drive to the exit and inform the cashier that you are a member of Drexel University by showing your Drexel University ID badge or business card to receive your discount.
