Tenure Track Assistant Professor - Experimental Condensed Matter

The Department of Physics at Drexel University invites applications for a tenure-track position in experimental Condensed Matter Physics. The appointment is anticipated to be at the Assistant Professor level starting on September 1, 2012. Drexel University is a research institution ranked in the top 100 among PhD granting universities according to US News & World Report. Drexel is located in a cosmopolitan urban environment and has solid user facilities for experimental condensed matter research.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in physics or equivalent and a postdoctoral experience is required. Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching. We are interested in candidates in the area of experimental condensed matter physics, including mesoscopic and nanoscale physics, low temperature physics, strongly correlated electron systems, low dimensional quantum systems, as well as interdisciplinary nanoscience.

Essential Functions: We are looking for individuals to establish a vigorous externally funded research program in condensed matter physics, which will complement the existing condensed matter research at the Physics Department and interact with the applied research thrusts at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. In addition to developing a strong externally funded research program, the successful candidate will be expected to further our educational mission by developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses as well as mentoring graduate students.
