Drexel University to Announce Scholarships for Students from Philadelphia's Sister Cities During Reception for Mayor of

Event: Drexel University President Constantine Papadakis will announce the creation of the Philadelphia Sister Cities Scholarship Program during a reception with the Mayor of Florence, Italy.

Background: As Drexel prepares for the visit of Chinese President Jiang Zemin later this month, the University will continue its international outreach by establishing the Sister Cities Scholarships. Drexel will award an annual $5,000 scholarship to a student from each of Philadelphia's seven sister cities: Florence, Italy; Tiajin, China; Torun, Poland; Inchon, South Korea; Nizhy-Novgorod, Russia; Tel-Aviv, Israel; and Douala, Cameroon.
The announcement is being made at a reception honoring Florence Mayor Mario Primicerio, who is on a four-day visit to Philadelphia. Florence was the first of Philadelphia's seven sister cities, with a relationship established in 1964.
