The entire faculty of Drexel University extends its condolences to the family of University President Constantine Papadakis, at his sudden passing.
Dr. Papadakis was a truly transformational leader for Drexel University, who achieved great things for the university during his 13-year tenure as President. Among his major accomplishments were:
- Strengthening the financial status of Drexel University to insure that it could reach its full potential.
- Merging Drexel University and MCP Hahnemann University, to create the Drexel University College of Medicine, College of Nursing and Health Professions, and School of Public Health.
- Creating the Earle Mack School of Law, which will hold its first commencement ceremony on May 27, 2009.
While we are all deeply saddened by Dr. Papadakis' passing, we will strive to continue the efforts that he devoted so much energy to, in helping Drexel University become a premier private university.
