Grievance Procedure - Denial of Accommodation Complaint Procedure
The Office of Disability Services (ODS) is committed to the full participation of people with disabilities in Drexel University’s programs and activities. If a student, faculty, or staff member alleges the denial of accommodation due to a disability, the following procedure provides the opportunity for internal resolution.
Provide the following information in writing to the 504/ADA Compliance Officer:
- The nature of the alleged denial of accommodation and the people involved.
- When and where the alleged denial occurred and supporting evidence.
- What harm occurred to the person with a disability and by whom.
- The remedy or relief sought.
- Witnesses, if any.
An appointment needs to be made with the 504/ADA Compliance Officer. The 504/ADA Compliance Officer is located at 3201 Arch Street, Suite 210, the mailing address is 3141 Chestnut St., 81-210, Philadelphia, PA 19104, and the phone numbers are 215.895.1401 V or 215.895.2299 TTY.
When filing a complaint of denial of accommodation, the details of the complaint will be made available to the 504/ADA Compliance Officer. Within 20 University days ¹, the 504/ADA Compliance Officer will commence with the investigation, communicating with persons involved in the complaint, as well as the department head where the alleged denial occurs. A determination of findings will be provided to the complainant.
The grievance will be dismissed if one of two situations occurs.
1. A written notice is not provided and an appointment is not made by the complainant, or
2. The result of the investigation finds that no denial of accommodation occurred
If the grievance is dismissed, a written notification will be provided to the complainant and to department head where the alleged denial occurred.
