Earn a Certificate

Special Note: The Learning Outcomes Form is a new resource that encourages you to reflect on how your involvement on campus helps you educationally and as you develop personally and professionally.

Students who complete this form can also earn CEO credit toward the variety of CEO Certificates.


Personal Leadership Certificate

Designed for students who seek to develop their leadership abilities. It offers the greatest flexibility, with all CEO sessions attended throughout the year counting towards certificate completion. Students who earn this certificate are encouraged to self-evaluate their strengths and weaknesses, and select CEO electives that most meet their needs.

Requirements:
- Any six (6) elective workshops offered in the CEO Program


Advanced Personal Leadership Certificate

Presented to any student who has previously earned the Personal Leadership Certificate and has once more fulfilled all of the requirements for the Personal Leadership Certificate during a separate academic year.


Emerging Leader Certificate

Designed for students who are preparing themselves for a future leadership position. Students who earn this certificate will learn more about their personal leadership style, how their style impacts an organization’s effectiveness, and methods for identifying personal strengths and weaknesses.

Requirements:
- Any one of the following:
- Interpersonal Leadership Skills
- MBTI - Myers Briggs Type Indicator
- Plus any four (4) elective workshops offered in the CEO Program


Organizational Leadership Certificate

Advanced certificate program designed for students who are currently in leadership positions in the Drexel community. Leaders who earn this certificate will develop a broader understanding of an individual’s role in the ever-changing dynamics of their organization. The required workshops will cover a variety of topics, including: strategies for analyzing a group’s maturity, delegation of tasks, running meetings, and resolving conflict.

Requirements:
- Organizational Dynamics
- Taking Care of Business: Running Effective Meetings
- Plus any four (4) elective workshops offered in the CEO Program


Advanced Organizational Leadership Certificate

Presented to any student who has previously earned the Organizational Leadership Certificate and has once more fulfilled all of the requirements for the Organizational Leadership Certificate during a separate academic year.


DU to the Zoo: Urban Community Service Certificate

This certificate program has been designed for students interested in engaging in responsible service and volunteerism specifically within the Philadelphia urban community. Students who earn this certificate will acquire skills that can help create significant change in an urban environment. Students are encouraged to serve and advocate for the people who live in the inner city, especially our neighbors in the Powelton and Mantua communities.

Requirements:
- Attending one (1) of the following two workshops:

  • Interpersonal Leadership Skills
  • MBTI - Myers Briggs Type Indicator

- Attending one (1) of the following workshops:

  • Leading Change: Community Service and Social Action
  • Picking the Right Service Project
  • Reflection in Service
- Plus 25 hours of registered community service projects, specifically in the Powelton/Mantua communities, over the course of the academic year.

Fraternity and Sorority Life Leadership Certificate (Updated)

Designed for all students who are members and leaders of their fraternities and sororities. Students who earn this certificate will develop an understanding of organizational development, their organization's role in the community, and the significance of the history, core values, and rituals of the national fraternity and sorority movement.

Requirements :

  • Attend the “Greek History Revisited” workshop
  • Attend "Greek Values Revisited" workshop:
  • Attend any five (5) additional elective workshops offered in the CEO Program; or Attendance at a Greek Life Retreat and any two (2) elective workshops offered in the CEO Program

Advanced Fraternity and Sorority Life Leadership Certificate (Updated)

Designed for upperclassmen who are members and leaders of their fraternities and sororities.  Students who earn this certificate will develop a broader understanding of organizational development, their organization's role in the community, and the significance of the history, core values, and rituals of the national fraternity and sorority movement.

Requirements :

  • Student must have Pre-Junior, Junior, or Senior academic status.
  • Attend the “Greek History Revisited” workshop
  • Attend the “Greek Values Revisited” workshop
  • Attend any five (5) additional elective workshops offered in the CEO Program; or Attendance at a Greek Life Retreat and any two (2) elective workshops offered in the CEO Program

Distinguished Service to the Community Certificate

Designed for students whose co-curricular involvement has demonstrated strong commitment to community service and volunteerism. Students who earn this certificate will learn more about their personal leadership style, how their style impacts an organization’s effectiveness, the importance of social action, and strategies for empowering people to create change in communities.

Requirements:
- Attending one (1) of the following two workshops:

  • Interpersonal Leadership Skills
  • MBTI - Myers Briggs Type Indicator

- Attending one (1) of the following workshops:

  • Leading Change: Community Service and Social Action
  • Picking the Right Service Project
  • Reflection in Service

- Plus 50 hours of registered community service projects over the course of the academic year.

Advanced Distinguished Service to the Community Certificate

Diversity Education Certificate
 
Designed for all students who have a sincere desire to learn more about themselves and others.  Students who earn this certificate will develop a greater awareness, understanding, and appreciation of people who are similar to and different from themselves.  Students will also learn how to communicate better.  Finally, students will learn about the different learning styles that people have and the things that they can do to ensure that all populations can have access to and benefit from individual or organizational sponsored programs, activities, services, workshops, and web sites.
 
Requirements:
 
- Attend three (3) of the following CEO workshops that have been approved as contributing to the Diversity Education Certificate.  Each of these workshops will be offered at least twice throughout the year, unless noted.

- Women and Leadership
- Images of Leadership:  Biblical Models and Examples
- Oxfam Hunger Banquet (offered once)
- Intercultural Communication

- Spirituality, Service, and Leadership
- Hills. . .A fable about men and women supporting each other. . .
 
- Attend two (2) additional events on campus that promote diversity appreciation and awareness.  Events can include programs hosted by cultural student organizations, the Office of Multicultural Programs, and events promoting Black History and Women’s History Months.

Women's Leadership Certificate


This certification program is designed for students who are interested in exploring women's issues and gaining a better understanding of women's professional and personal development. Students who earn this certificate will learn skills that will assist them developing their personal and professional goals.
 
Requirements:
- Attend the “Women and Leadership” CEO workshop
- Attend one (1) activity or program on campus that promotes awareness of women’s issues.  

In order to receive credit for attendance at these events, e-Mail CEO@drexel.edu with the title of the event, your full name, student ID number, e-mail address, and any memberships in student organizations.  


 - Attend an additional four (4) elective CEO workshops (not including programs that fulfill the first 2 requirements).



Sports Leadership Certificate

This certificate designed for student leaders already within the Drexel athletic and recreational sports program, as well as students interested in learning about leadership in sports.  Those who earn a certificate will learn leadership theories utilized in sports as well as discuss the value of sports in our society. More importantly, students will learn what values they have and how these values can be exemplified in sports!  This certificate emphasizes experiential learning and the development of leadership and character through sports.

Requirements: Six and one-half (6.5) CEO Credits Total:

1. Complete the Campus Involvement Experience Form and email it to CEO@drexel.edu or bring it to 215 Creese (Office of Campus Activities) Earn ½ credit for completion

2. Attend at least 2 of the following Sports related workshops:

- Workshop- “Leadership Lessons from Sports Greatest Coaches”
- Workshop- “Character & Sports”
- Workshop- “Volunteerism & Sports: Importance of Paying Forward & Service through Sports”
- Workshop- “Teamwork & Sportsmanship: Applying Values of Sports to Everyday Life!"

3. Attend/Complete at least one (1) of the following Sports related workshops/activities:

    • Attending any additional (third) CEO workshop from the list above
    • Educational Initiative/Life Skills Program- Sports Psychology (note- for varsity-athletes only).
    • Educational Initiative/Life Skills Program- Health & Wellness – Open to Campus
    • Workshop- “Travel Safety in Sports & Developing Emergency Action Plan”
    • CPR/First Aid Training (cost- $35 for materials).
    • Intramural Sports Officials Clinic
    • Interpersonal Leadership Skills (CEO Workshop)
    • Leadership Styles (CEO Workshop)
    • Sports Leader In-Services (includes Athletic Department in-services for outdoor trip leader, lifeguards, intramural sports supervisor, program supervisor, and DAC supervisor).

4. General Electives- attend any additional elective CEO workshops that will give you a total of six (6) workshops/activities between sections 2, 3, and 4, of this Certificates requirements


Design, Art and Media Certificate

Designed for students preparing themselves for careers in design, applied arts and media. Success in these creative fields requires more than talent and training. Students who earn this certificate will develop leadership and management skills and will learn from top industry leaders about the businesses and professional development required to succeed.

Requirements:

- Attend any three (3) AWCoMAD SPONSORED lectures, talks, symposiums, cultural performances and other on or off campus events pre-approved by the Dean of AWCoMAD.

Excellent Organization Certificate

Presented to student organizations that have made the commitment to developing their leaders by encouraging active participation in the CEO Program. Organizations receiving Excellent Organization Certificates will receive an award and have their group’s name engraved on a plaque displayed outside the Campus Activities Suite.

Earn an Excellent Organization Certificate by having five (5) or more members earn any level of certification (through the campus-wide CEO workshop series and/or through the CEO II trainings) and your organization can qualify to receive extra $$$.
