The Drexel community knows better than anyone how valuable it is to learn though our experiences! This workshop introduces the most effective practice in learning through the experience of service: Reflection. During the first portion of this workshop, participants will explore the necessity and benefits of reflections in service. The second half will focus on how to facilitate individual and group reflection. By the end, participants will have acquired the tools and knowledge necessary to heighten their own self-awareness and introspection while leading groups in meaningful and reflective dialogue/activities.

Through videos, interactive exercise, and discussions, participants learn about the struggles of neighbors in need. They also discover ways that they can help! Each Just Neighbors workshop will cover a different theme. These may include: “Who Is My Neighbor”, “Making Ends Meet”, “Does Working Work?”, “Prejudice, Privilege, and Poverty”, and “Justice for All”. The sessions have three goals: (1) to educate students about poverty in the United States, (2) to spur students to greater service to people in poverty, (3) to send students for as advocates for neighbors in need.

We all know that communication is a tool that we use to let others know how we are feeling and what we are thinking. We also use communication to get a better idea of the views, opinions and motives of others. When speaking to and about people who have disabilities, it is especially important that we use appropriate, up-to-date language. Communicating with people who have disabilities involves respect, consideration, and even patience at times. Sometimes multiple methods of listening, teaching, and interacting are helpful to facilitate more productive conversation. This session will offer participants insights into ‘best practices’ to encourage and develop an inclusive environment for people with disabilities.

The presentation provides leadership lessons from the front lines of business and the battlefield. John Gronski is a management consultant with over 10 years of experience implementing large, complex projects, leading business teams, and working as a trusted advisor to executives. Brigadier General Gronski is a senior leader in the Pennsylvania National Guard. A proven combat leader, he commanded a Brigade of over 5,400 US Soldiers and Marines and approximately 5,000 Iraqi soldiers in Ramadi, Iraq between 2005 and 2006.

Annual Conference on Global Challenges – “Energy & Environment” – Cooperate, Coordinate, and Collaborate

The conference will bring together  undergraduate and graduate students   to discuss  these  global challenges from wide rang e of  perspectives through student panels  on  Global Media, Global Business Trends, Global Social and Economic  Issues , Global Health, Global Science, Technology and Society, and Global Justice and Human Rights.  The students will lead the panel discussions and faculty experts will moderate them.  We see this conference as an ideal forum for sharing, discussing, learning, networking and collaboration and hope that it will produce new ideas and possible solutions to today’s global challenges.
*Student will only need to attend 2 panels and keynote speaker to receive full CEO credit.
