2:00pm-3:30pm
MacAlister Hall. Room 2019 (33rd and Chestnut Streets, Philadelphia, PA)
This workshop is designed to engage participants in thinking about how they and others tend to define citizenship -- in theory and in practice. It aims to spur dialogue across some commonly held beliefs about what it means to be active citizens in the United States. It also aims to help people think critically about the way in which conceptions and rights of citizenship had changed historically, including through the amendments to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights (which are included in the workshop as handouts, along with a provocative article upon which the exercise is based). Finally, this session helps participants to consider connections between our legal and political rights and forms of citizen action.

Intentionally Rich: How to Amass a Ton of Money

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Craig argues that most people get dangerously wrong advice on money and it prevents them from ever becoming rich. This presentation contains ideas and strategies that will make you as wealthy as you desire. It's the stuff they don't teach you in the classroom. Some of it is radical and not what you'd expect, but all of the advice is actionable and within any motivated person's reach. If you want to be rich, you must attend this workshop.

A Job, Success, or Sanity:
What Are We Really Looking For In Our Careers? A Lecture for Students

Presented by: Michael Carroll, author of The Mindful Leader (2007); Awake at Work (2004)
Sponsored by: The College of Arts and Sciences, The Center for Interdisciplinary Programs, LeBow College of Business, A Healthier U, DU Student Life, The Office of Counseling & Health—Main Campus, The Student Counseling Center—Center City Campus, The Office of Equality and Diversity
Thursday April 28, 2011
3:30pm-5:00pm
MacAlister Hall, Room 2019 (33rd and Chestnut Streets, Philadelphia, PA)
More and more research is documenting a simple yet disturbing career fact: getting a job and going to work can be bad for your health. Medical studies are documenting that heart disease, weak immune systems, chronic fatigue, Attention Deficit Traits (ADT), and even drug addiction and broken families are a result of stressful and chaotic work environments. In the end, the daily grind of pursuing a career is leaving many of us feeling distressed and even besieged.
But what is it about work and career that is so unhealthy? Is it our job that is distressing or is it the “mind” that we bring to the task? Can we pursue a career with ambition and passion while being at home in our lives rather than anxious and burdened? During this hands-on, practical lecture we will learn basic mindfulness awareness meditation techniques and explore how such a simple practice can help us transform the challenges and anxieties of the workplace into opportunities for cultivating well-being and decency on the job.  This special session is targeted to co-op and non-co-op students of all levels.  Michael Carroll is the author of The Mindful Leader (2007) and Awake at Work (2004). He has held executive positions with companies such as Shearson Lehman/American Express, Simon & Schuster, and The Walt Disney Company.  This workshop is open to undergraduate and graduate students. CEO credit is available. Space is limited.
*This is a “CEO Certified” event sponsored by the  College of Arts and Sciences, the Center for Interdisciplinary Programs, LeBow College of Business, A Healthier U, Student Life, the Office of Counseling & Health—Main Campus, The Student Counseling Center—Center City Campus, and the Office of Equality and Diversity.
RSVP Required In Advance: RSVP to Monica Fauble at mfauble@drexel.edu.

5:30pm-7:00pm

MacAlister Hall, Room 2020 (33rd and Chestnut Streets, Philadelphia, PA)
Fraternities and sororities claim to be values based organizations, but what does that really mean?  How well do you understand your chapter values and rituals and why they are important?  When is the last time you had a meaningful discussion with your fellow Greek members about the core values of our organizations?  Come to this session and get ready to take fraternity/sorority membership to the next level.
*This is a “CEO Certificate Program” elective workshop open to all students, but recommended for members of the fraternity and sorority community and those looking to earn a Fraternity and Sorority Life Leadership Certificate.
