Center for Civic Engagement
The newly developed Pennoni Honors College Center for Civic
Engagement offers opportunities to engage in Service Learning
and volunteerism.
The mission of the Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) is to
facilitate the integration of community service needs with
academic study to enhance student learning, address community
needs, and inspire students to develop civic responsibility.
The CEE embraces and nurtures the volunteer spirit and service
learning by supporting and promoting the educational benefits
of learning through service.
Civic Engagement is an innovative method of learning that
integrates community service activities into the academic
curriculum. Civic engagement extends learning beyond the classroom
and into the community by involving students in real issues
in real time. It enables students to expand their knowledge
of society, develop critical thinking skills, and enhances
character development through the identification and resolution
of community problems.
Students who are participating in UNIV 101 classes need to
submit community service hours to the Center for Civic Engagement.
