“CEO LEADership Weeks” is sponsored by the Office of Student Leadership Development & Traditions. This bi-annual event is open to the entire Drexel community and features a variety of campus-wide activities spanning the course of two weeks that supports the personal and professional leadership development of our students, faculty, and staff.  Events include speakers, student organization networking receptions, business plan competitions, social justice activities, leadership workshops and conferences, and much more.  For a complete list of all upcoming events, refer to the schedule below. The Spring 2013 “CEO LEADership Weeks” programs will run from May 6–18, 2013.
If your student organization, office, or college/school is hosting an event during these weeks, click here to complete the submission form.Your event(s) will be promoted via the online calendar and CEO LEAD social media platforms.

If you would like your program to be considered for CEO LEAD credit, please make sure to check the appropriate box in the form - you will be notified if your event is approved. All approved "CEO LEAD Certified" events must follow these guidelines.

“CEO LEADership Weeks” event submissions are due by Monday, May 6, 2013 at 4pm. Any events submitted after that time will be added to the online calendar as soon as possible, but may or may not be able to be featured in the email promotions for CEO LEADership Weeks.

Workshop Description: Effective meeting management can bring together various backgrounds for a common purpose.  Through use of examples and group discussion, we will review a successful logistical meeting model, work together to develop a sophisticated meeting agenda, learn to work through adversity when meetings go astray, and learn where to go on campus for resources.  Effective meeting management reflects positively on your leadership abilities and can be a transferable skill to any professional or social situation.

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Develop a focused but flexible meeting agenda.
  2. Understand and avoid the common logistical pitfalls of meeting planning.
  3. Effectively keep meetings on track and focused towards the common purpose.
  4. Find resources on and off campus to assist with meeting management needs.

Workshop Description: This workshop will provide an explanation of an approach that a residential community has taken to help increase student academic achievement while decreasing disciplinary issues.  The audience will learn how such an approach works, how it was effective and discuss how an approach can assist them and the community they work for or participate within.  There will also be discussion on how to alter such an approach to help benefit that community of students.  This session will focus especially on first year resident communities.

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Learn about and describe the successes at La Salle University using this model of incorporating academic success.
  2. Learn ways to better incorporate academic success in residence hall programming.
  3. Have the opportunity to brainstorm and generate ideas about how to facilitate these types of programs in their own communities and universities.
  4. Gain a unique perspective on using academic success as a motivating tool to increase student commitment to academics while improving student behavior and decreasing conduct incidents within a community.

Workshop Description: Leading is not only about standing out in a crowd.  Whether we like it or not, often times leaders have to be willing to leave the pack and be prepared to stand alone.  Making tough decisions and stepping outside of what we know - what is most comfortable - can be overwhelming and downright scary.  Through real-life situations and practical examples, this session will provide leaders with the tools necessary to stand strong outside of their comfort zone.  The presentation will focus on leadership skills that will help emerging and established student leaders during times of uncertainty within their position.  Specifically, the presentation will define leadership (i.e. a process by which a person influences others to accomplish an objective), discuss how leadership allows team members to want to achieve high goals, and how often times it results in a situation where members feel bossed around.  A large portion of the presentation will focus on the tools students can use during times when they will be called upon to move beyond their comfort zone, make tough decisions, and be looked upon to produce results.  These skills include: knowing yourself and seeking self-improvement, being technically proficient, seeking responsibility and feedback, taking responsibility for your actions, making sound decisions, setting a good example, knowing your team and looking out for their well-being, keeping your team informed, and developing a sense of responsibility in your organization.

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify specific situations where student leaders are uncomfortable in their position.
  2. Identify a leaders values which helps shape their leadership style.
  3. Learn to identify particular pitfalls student leaders can avoid when assuming leadership roles.
  4. Obtain the necessary skill set to confidently step outside of their comfort zone to achieve maximum results with their team and within their organization.

Workshop Description: According to author Max DuPree, “A legacy results from the facts of our behavior that remain in the minds of others.”  Have you ever thought about your legacy?  Whether a student organization leader or member of a group, we all have the ability to leave our mark on others.

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Learn and discuss the concepts of “legacy.”
  2. Embrace the opportunity and responsibility to leave a legacy.
  3. Begin developing their legacy action plan.

SAVE THE DATE: 15th Annual CEO LEAD Program Recognition Reception

The Office of Student Leadership Development & Traditions will host the 15th Annual CEO LEAD Program Recognition Reception on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Behrakis Grand Hall.  The CEO LEAD workshop year has come to a close, with thousands of student participants and hundreds of certificates earned. The reception will honor and recognize the achievements of those students who have sought to develop both personally and professionally. The reception is open to any student who has participated in at least one (1) CEO LEAD workshop during the 2012-2013 academic year. Certificates will be awarded to students who attended the minimum of six (6) workshops.
