Presenter Bio: Josh Helfand has helped companies of all sizes tell their stories in a variety of different media. As Senior Director of Business Development for FMP Media Solutions, a video communications company headquartered in Conshohocken, he can share current insights from the market on what is working, and what isn’t working, in the video space. His experience owning and operating his own business has also given him insight and appreciation for the unique challenges facing entrepreneurs, which should be especially interesting to the Baiada community.

Ritual is the thing that sets fraternities and sororities apart from other organizations, yet we rarely talk about it, what it means, and how we are living it, leaning on the basis of secrecy. This program will discuss Ritual, values, and the importance of congruence between organization ideals/values and individual actions. Additionally, you will discuss how to incorporate your Ritual into the day to day functions of your chapter and your life.

Music and sports have so much in common! By studying how “musical teams” or “sports teams” succeed we can learn how we ourselves can win on the field, create impactful music or simply set and achieve personal goals that can change our lives! This lecture will offer history and insight on the rock band U2, utilizing music videos, concerts, pictures, lyrics and stories to capture the essence and values of one the world’s greatest musical teams and allow participants to gain insight on transferable skills needed for their personal success.
Workshop Learning Outcomes:
1. Participants will learn the history of U2 and gain appreciation for their accomplishments from
their beginning as a humble teenage band in Dublin to the world’s most successful touring
band of all time.
2. Through studying U2, participants will learn the values of teamwork, collaboration,
communication, self-belief and enthusiasm and discuss how these values can be
transferred into their lives.
3. Participants will have fun and leave the session energized to create personal goals and
begin to set a plan to achieve these!

This movie screening will feature “50/50” and two guest speakers: Dr. David J. Vaughn of the Abramson Cancer Center at UPenn, and Carly Chizik, an American Cancer Society representative. Dr. Peter Amato will lead an interactive discussion session following the movie screening. The film is about cancer and will keep viewers interested. The film is loosely based on the life of writer and cancer patient Will Reiser and many of his personal experiences were incorporated into the movie, bringing the movie authenticity. This movie and the discussion will help to educate the Drexel community more about cancer and the stereotypes/myths that go along with it. Kit Yan is a well-known spoken-word poet. Through touching love poems, coming out stories, and comedic tales of his childhood, he tells stories through slam poetry from the lens of a queer and transgender Asian American from Hawaii who travels all over the world on tour. Kit is on Campus Pride's Top 25 LGBT college campus speakers and artists hot list and is dedicated to creating positive social change. He will sing/read his poems for the first 45-minutes. More Details on the Program's Format:
The event will begin at 6 p.m. with light refreshments and food. At 6:30 p.m., the panelists and moderator(s) will answer questions that the attendees have in regards to some specific topics. Following the formal Q&A discussion, the students and alumni panelists will be divided into groups according to profession or field of study, giving students an opportunity to ask questions and network with alumni who are working in their desired field, such as business, engineering, healthcare, etc. After these "breakout sessions" revolving around specific fields or industries, students will be able to have their résumé critiqued by experienced alumni and staff. With both the formal panel discussion and the breakout discussions, junior and senior students will be able to learn more about their career and networking opportunities, as well as learn some valuable insight about life after graduation from alumni who have recent experience outside of Drexel. The panelists and alumni in attendance will have the opportunity to network with current students before and after the panel discussion. All alumni are encouraged to attend to share their Drexel experiences with students, as well as meet and connect with other alumni in attendance.
