CEO LEADership Weeks: Winter 2012 - February 27 to March 10

Presented by the CEO LEAD Program and Office of Campus Activities

“CEO LEADership Weeks” is sponsored by the CEO LEAD Program and Office of Campus Activities. This bi-annual event is open to the entire Drexel community and features a variety of campus-wide activities spanning the course of two weeks that supports the personal and professional leadership development of our students, faculty, and staff.  Events include speakers, student organization networking receptions, business plan competitions, social justice activities, leadership workshops and conferences, and much more.  For a complete list of all upcoming events, refer to the schedule below. The Winter 2012 “CEO LEADership Weeks” programs will run from February 27 – March 10, 2012.

If your student organization, office, or college/school is hosting an event during these weeks, please submit your information to CEOLEAD@drexel.eduSubmissions should include: Event Name, Date, Time, Location, Sponsoring Organization(s), Brief Description, and a Contact Email.  Your event(s) will be promoted via the online calendar and CEO LEAD social media platforms.

If you would like your program to be considered for CEO LEAD credit, you must complete the "CEO LEAD Certified Workshop Request Form" and send it to CEOLEAD@drexel.edu.

This is the 5th Annual Office of International Program’s “Student Conference on Global Challenges”.  This full day student conference will bring together a multi-disciplinary group of academics, activists and students at Drexel University to address a diverse set of issues on the topic of Food.  In addition to hearing from a keynote expert on the issue, students will have a chance to present their own research and hear about their peers' research in 6 different panel sessions: 1) Global Social & Economic Trends, 2) Global Health, 3) Global Justice & Human Rights, 4) Global Business Trends, 5) Global Science, Technology & Society, and 6) Global Media.  This conference will count toward CEO LEAD Credit. The Drexel Amateur Radio Club is holding an exam session on Saturday March 3rd at Noon in Randell 121 which will be open to the general public.  Drexel students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to come out!  For $20, individuals can take the required exams for technician, general, and extra license classes.  Each license class grants more privileges, with technician being the first license.  Upon successful completion of the technician exam, the individual is registered with the FCC and is given a call-sign.  Please Wiki/YouTube amateur radio or ham radio to find out more about the hobby.  It is a good thing to have on a résumé, a fun way to communicate with people all over the world, and good for emergency preparedness.  Please bring a pen AND at least two pencils to the exam.  The use of a scientific calculator will be allowed.  You may not use cell phones, graphing calculators, or any device with communication or data saving capabilities.  If paying by cash, please bring $20 cash to the exam session.  If paying by check, please bring a check for $15 to the exam along with $5 in cash.  Checks are payable to ARRL/VEC.  Study resources can be found online, with the current question pools for each exam found here: http://www.arrl.org/question-pools.  ***You may take each exam as you pass, at the same session, without paying additional fees!  If you are prepared, you can go from no license to general or extra in the same session.***  For more information, contact Matt D’Arcy at mistadarcy@gmail.com.

Music and sports have so much in common!  By studying how “musical teams” or “sports teams” succeed we can learn how we ourselves can win on the field, create impactful music or simply set and achieve personal goals that can change our lives! This lecture will offer history and insight on the rock band U2, utilizing music videos, concerts, pictures, lyrics and stories to capture the essence and values of one the world’s greatest musical teams and allow participants to gain insight on transferable skills needed for their personal success.

This movie screening will feature “50/50” and two guest speakers: Dr. David J. More Details on the Program's Format:
The event will begin at 6 p.m. with light refreshments and food. At 6:30 p.m., the panelists and moderator(s) will answer questions that the attendees have in regards to some specific topics. Following the formal Q&A discussion, the students and alumni panelists will be divided into groups according to profession or field of study, giving students an opportunity to ask questions and network with alumni who are working in their desired field, such as business, engineering, healthcare, etc. After these "breakout sessions" revolving around specific fields or industries, students will be able to have their résumé critiqued by experienced alumni and staff. With both the formal panel discussion and the breakout discussions, junior and senior students will be able to learn more about their career and networking opportunities, as well as learn some valuable insight about life after graduation from alumni who have recent experience outside of Drexel. The panelists and alumni in attendance will have the opportunity to network with current students before and after the panel discussion. All alumni are encouraged to attend to share their Drexel experiences with students, as well as meet and connect with other alumni in attendance.
