Amanda Fischer, M.S. jen

Amanda has a B.S. degree in Nutritional Science from the University of Delaware with minors in Biology and Chemistry.  She graduated from the MS program in Human Nutrition at Drexel University in June of 2010.
She began a dietetic internship with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey after her time here.

From September 2008 until August 2010, Amanda partnered with 4 schools in the School District of Philadelphia:  Overbrook High School, Vaux High School, Furness High School and Roosevelt Middle School.  Her favorite lesson to teach was Whole Grains.  She is an advocate for the benefits of fiber in a healthy diet and encouraged the students to eat more fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains to increase their fiber intake.  Amanda’s favorite food is fiber rich baked beans.

Amanda likes to cook, kayak, work out, spend time at the beach and watch the Discovery Health Channel.  Her greatest rewards from teaching nutrition were when a student told her that he/she has changed one thing in his/her diet to eat healthier.  Whether it is drinking less soda or eating more vegetables each day, Amanda taught the students the importance of eating healthy while young to establish the good eating habits needed for the rest of their lives.

Congrats on your internship, Amanda! And don't worry, Overbrook, Vaux, Furness, and Roosevelt: We have a great nutrition educator for you: Heather Lazarow!
