Fashionista Ranks Drexel’s Fashion Design Program
January 4, 2011
Fashionista has ranked Drexel University’s Fashion design program 16th among the top 50 fashion schools in the world. Only three U.S. schools ranked above Drexel.
Drexel is joined in ranking by elite fashion schools in France and England, Central Saint Martin in London at No. 1 and Ecole De La Chambre Syndicale in Paris at No. 6 among colleges and universities worldwide. In fall 2009, Drexel student Milka Orso won a year scholarship at the Chambre Syndicale during Arts of Fashion, which Drexel hosted. Orso is currently studying in Paris.
“Many Drexel students have won national and international awards, and gone on to study at the Chambre Syndicale and nab huge jobs in France” said Cheryl Wischhover of Fashionista.
Fashionista is one of the largest independent fashion news sites, featuring short post and blogs targeting young and influential professionals. The site is comprised of fashion news and career advice aimed at providing readers with guidance on succeeding in the fashion world.
Drexel’s fashion design curriculum offers a six-month cooperative education program that complements course work in conceptual design, presentation skills, CAD and manufacturing methods. The fashion design program covers all facets of design from swimwear to couture. Students are prepared for careers in fashion design, styling, advertising and computer-aided and technical design. Students conclude their senior year studies with the presentation of their collection in the Drexel Fashion Show, currently held at the URBN corporate center in south Philadelphia, featuring professional models.
