National Mock Trial Championship Coming to Philly
May 29, 2008
What: In announcing its support as leadership sponsor of the 2010 National High School Mock Trial Championship, which will be held in Philadelphia, Drexel University President Constantine Papadakis will present a check for $100,000 to Andrew F. Susko, president of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA). The PBA will serve as the host of the 27th annual tournament.
Drexel is the partner of the PBA in the statewide mock trial program. In March, Drexel hosted a mini-mock trial tournament on campus in which Overbrook High School finished first before being crowned champion at the 24th annual PBA Young Lawyers Division’s Statewide Mock Trial Competition Finals. Overbrook High School went on to compete in this year’s National High School Mock Trial Championship.
The Overbrook team, which has committed to volunteering at the 2010 national championship, will join Papadakis, Susko and PBA members. The team and its coach, Phil Beauchemin, will also meet with Drexel’s Earle Mack School of Law faculty at a luncheon following the check presentation.
